“Respect the disease. Do not take unnecessary risks. Provide for the spiritual and physical needs of the neighbor. Make use of medical aid. Care for one another, especially the most vulnerable.” -Martin Luther
Due to COVID-19, all in-person events and meetings have been canceled or moved to online formats. As a faith community, we are remaining connected digitally, while social distancing. Church is still being held at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday online through Zoom. Also on Zoom, small group worship is at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. Updates, opportunities to serve, community events, and other church news are sent out weekly over email. For those wishing to join the faith community, we welcome you, and encourage you to email us: poplogan3@gmail.com.
A message from pastor emily
Beloved People of Prince of Peace,
It is with a heavy heart that I write that we are choosing to suspend face-to-face church gathering for the foreseeable future. There will be no Sunday worship, Sunday School, Wednesday soup suppers, evening prayer, or choir practice.
In 1527, Martin Luther wrote a treatise for the people of his time who were experiencing a deadly outbreak of the plague. Luther’s counsel, based on Scripture, is still sound: “Respect the disease. Do not take unnecessary risks. Provide for the spiritual and physical needs of the neighbor. Make use of medical aid. Care for one another, especially the most vulnerable.” -Martin Luther
We plan to follow Luther’s advice along with that of medical experts so that to the best of our ability we can continue to offer genuine and loving worship and connection for all to experience God’s love.
We believe that this is not a time for panic or hysteria. Instead, it is a time to recognize that there are actions to take that can minimize the spread of illness and disease. Please contact me (Pastor Emily 720-579-8229) and let me know how I can offer you comfort and care in these trying times.
I know that this is a difficult moment, where fear and uncertainty are running wild. But we are the Church, and we respond to fear with love. While other institutions will understandably dial back during this time, we will dial up. It's in times like this where the Church does some of its best work, and as we face trying moments, it will be essential that we continue to find ways to connect to God, to our faith, and to one another. Your Church Council and I are working creatively on how we at Prince of Peace will move forward and continue to be Church together. We are planning strategies to share sermons and other worship resources online and thinking about how we remain connected to one other virtually. To that end we ask that you continue to pay close attention to the church website, to your email, and to the Proclaimer as new information and new plans unfold.
Let's keep each other informed of what is going on in our life together. The Council and I continue to hold you all in our prayers and are grateful for your partnership in the gospel as we love, serve, and grow together.
Faithfully,
Pastor Emily
